The Quick Rise and Fall of "Fall Guys"

Fall Guys is a free for all platformer where the “guys” or as some call them beans, try to win a race through a tricky obstacle course that quickly rose up and then falls off. I bet you have heard of this very popular game in some way over the past few months, either from friends, social media or even playing it yourself, but did you know the real reason it blew up so fast? It was developed and published by Mediatonic and published by Devolver Digital in early February 2020 , but it was not until mid August when it got it’s boost in popularity.

The reason Fall Guys reached such success was because it was released right when Covid-19 was starting to come into effect and people of all ages (mostly kids and teens) were starting to be remote. So students had a lot of free time on their hands, being stuck inside most of their day, they were starting to become very bored. Most were on steam and other game platforms looking for the next best game for them. Fall Guys fit that role perfectly, giving laughs to its players and giving them joy trying to compete against their friends.

But their popularity was cut short, with the same few levels to choose from, repetitive challenges, no new characters their fans got bored and moved on or moved back to other games. Most games usually update their games pretty frequently, most do every week or every other week, some do every month to keep their players coming back to see the new changes and keep them engaged. But with a new update in the works, they could be making their return with remixed challenges and levels, brand new characters and outfits and all new features.
