NASA’s OSIRIS-REx Spacecraft lands on asteroid

Scientists are still managing to break the boundaries of technology and innovation, despite having to focus their efforts on working to create a vaccination. NASA has been on the forefront of space exploration, and they are continuing to further expand the world’s knowledge of what is beyond planet earth.

While competing with companies such as SpaceX, NASA continues to improve their technology and is going further into the unknown. It has been hard for NASA to keep up with companies such as SpaceX, as they and other private space agencies are improving at such a fast rate. Yet no other space exploration agency has had the success and sheer amount of images as NASA has, which gives them the advantage over all others.

In the depths of space there is an ancient asteroid known as Bennu, which is 200 million miles away from Earth. The spacecraft OSIRIS-REx has taken years to reach this point in space, as the vastness of the universe is constantly expanding. This asteroid is special because it can give scientists a perspective into the earliest times of the universe, as Bennu was formed billions of years ago.

NASA has landed the spacecraft OSIRIS-REx on the asteroid Bennu, on October 20, has provided imaging and samples from the asteroid, and is continuing to expand on what they can do. This is especially exciting to NASA because it is one of the first instances of a successful landing of a spacecraft on an asteroid at such a distance away from Earth. This is only the beginning for NASA and other space exploration agencies, and the people are excited to see what they have in store next.
