The MLB playoffs are well under way as the division series got started this past week. Despite the shortened season due to the coronavirus, fall baseball could still bring some surprises. In the American League there are Yankees vs. Rays, and Astros vs. A’s. I think that the Yankees will lose to the Rays. The Yankees lineup is very dangerous, but with the pitching staff of Charlie Morton, Tyler Glasnow, and Blake Snell, the Rays will get it done. The Yankees might push 5 or 6 games but they won’t be able to beat the Rays. The Astros vs A’s will see the “underdogs” winning. I have the Astros winning and making it to the ALCS. The Astros can pull it off in 7 in my opinion. Then in the ALCS I see the Rays will make quick work of the Astros in 4-5 games.
In the National League the Dodgers are playing the Padres, and the Marlins are up against the Braves. I’ve got the Dodgers beating the Padres in 6 games. The Padres have a really good all around team, and a breakout star in Fernando Tatis JR, but the Dodgers will have their way on the mound and at the plate. In the other NLDS matchup the Marlins are going to get beat by the Braves in 7. The Marlins have never lost a postseason series and I think that will change in this NLDS. The Braves lineup is potent and the Marlins pitching staff will not be able to contain it. Then the Braves will beat the Dodgers in the NLCS. Despite a very stacked lineup and rotation, the Dodgers will lose to the Braves in 6.
My prediction for the 2020 World Series is Braves vs Rays. This series will be very entertaining, with lots of runs, and lots of strikeouts. In the end I have the Braves coming out on top in 5. The Rays lineup is very good, but the Braves rising stars will really shine. Their MVP candidate Freddie Freeman will also be quite the terror on offense.
PostScript: Well, turns out I missed the call in the big game and the Dodgers took it all. Maybe I should become a meteorologist.
