Green Wave Victory over Tech

Last Thursday's basketball game with Franklin Tech at Greenfield, was won by the Wave’s defense holding off Tech early on, and then senior Mason Meadows takeover in the second quarter, leading them to a overpowering win against Tech, 61-31.

The first quarter was tight leaving the score at 11-8 going into the second. Then in the second quarter, Meadows hit the ground running after not playing in the first, he ended the second quarter with 9 points. Maverick Ward and Jake Sak combined for 12 in the first half, leaving the Wave up 31-16 at halftime.

The Wave came out in the second half with more tight defense and good ball movement. Tech was plagued by lack of communication and hustle and couldn't fight back. The Wave ran with it in the second half. Meadows scored 18 for the game, Ward and Sak combined for 17, to lead the Wave to a 61-31 victory

In interviewing Meadows after the game, I asked for his take on this basketball season overall, “It’s weird playing basketball without fans,” he said ’’It’s not the same feeling. Also, being a senior and having this be our last year of high school overall, it’s just really unfortunate. With a shortened season in sports, we aren’t playing for WMass title or anything. It takes a lot away from the season.”

A very frustrating reality that all seniors have to deal with this season is that there is no title game this year. They play for bragging rights, but at least now the Wave can go home bragging after Thursday’s win.
